Industrial refrigeration revamps with natural gas-ammonia system.
Type of article: Article
Summary
A large chilled food storage and distribution depot in the USA has been revamped recently to use natural gas fired lithium-bromide/water absorption units. 600 tons (2,110 kilowatts) of cooling for air-conditioning are provided by two 2-stage units through a chilled water circuit. A near freezing refrigerated cold store is served from an ammonia plant. The choice of CFC substitutes was thus avoided. D.W.H.
