Summary

THE PRODUCTS TESTED WERE CARROT CUBES, HERRING FILLETS AND DAIRY ICE CREAM. A LIST OF 23 PACKAGES TESTED, THEIR SPECIAL FEATURES AND THE NAMES OF MANUFACTURERS IS GIVEN. THE STUDY INCLUDES CHARTS AND GRAPHS. THE EXPERIMENTS SHOWED THAT ALUMINIUM FOIL, LAMINATED AND METALLISED PACKAGING INCREASED SHELF LIFE BY TWO TO THREE TIMES IN OPEN-TOP FREEZERS. NITROGEN DID NOT IMPROVE THE PRESERVATION OF THE PRODUCTS TESTED. THE STUDY FOUND THAT AN INCREASE OF TEMPERATURE IN FREEZERS BY ABOUT 3 K IS POSSIBLE BUT SAVINGS ARE INSIGNIFICANT. (INT. PACKAG.
