Infrared differential thermal analysis (IDTA) of multiple freezing processes.

Number: pap. n. 333

Author(s) : ZARAGOTAS D., LIOLIOS N. T., ANASTASSOPOULOS E.

Summary

Thousands of simultaneous freezing processes in microplates were studied using a recently developed technological platform which is based on infrared video recording. The platform facilitated the analysis of important freezing parameters such as cooling rate, freezing point and nucleation point. Infrared Differential Thermal Analysis proved particularly useful for detection of slow nucleations, which frequently occur in nature. Potential applications of this analysis of freezing processes include breeding for frost resistance, frozen food technology and pharmaceutical science.
