Summary
The prediction of pressure loss for an individual duct component depends on its pressure loss coefficient (k-factor). The problem facing designers is that existing guides on k-factors do not include many of the duct fittings currently used in HVAC systems. The authors show how computational fluid dynamics can be a valuable tool for predicting k-factors for duct components.
