IN THE COASTAL TOWNS AND VILLAGES OF DEVELOPING COUNTRIES, THE DAILY ITINERANT RETAILING OF FRESH FISH (DEAD AND LIVE) BY LOCAL PEDLARS AND HAWKERS IS A RELATIVELY IMPORTANT TRADE, PARTICULARLY IN THE LESS DENSELY-POPULATED ANDLOW INCOME AREAS. THE QUANTITIES OF UNSOLD DEAD FISH DETERIORATE RAPIDLY IN THE HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURES. THE CHALLENGE IS THEREFORE THE TRANSFER OF FISH STORAGE TECHNOLOGY FROM THE DEVELOPED TO THE DEVELOPING NATIONS AND FROM THOSE NATIONS WITH LARGE EXPERIENCE IN FISHERIES PRODUCTION TO THOSE JUST STARIGOT THE ARTICLE OVERVIEWS THE ASPECTS OF FRESH, CHILLED AND FROZEN FISH, REFRIGERATED TRANSPORT BY ROAD, RAIL, SEA AND AIR AND THE MARKETING AND TRANSPORT OF LIVE FISH AS THIS IS STILL A WIDELY USED METHOD.
