Author(s) : LONGE K.

Type of article: Article

Summary

THE AUTHOR POINTS OUT THAT WHILE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM DESIGNER S HAVE CONTROL OVER THE COIL SURFACE AREA, ROOM TEMPERATURE AND THE TEMPERATURE OF THE COOLING COIL, MANUFACTURERS SHOULD GIVE PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO CONTROL OVER THE SPECIFIC HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT WHEN THEY DECIDE ABOUT COIL GEOMETRY THAT ESTABLISHES TUBE DIAMETER, HORIZONTAL OR VERTICAL TUBE SPACING, FIN CONFIGURATION AND SPACING, AS WELL AS COIL MATERIALS AND THEIR CORRESPONDING THERMAL CONDUCTIVITIES THAT AFFECT COIL PERFORMANCE.IT IS STATED THAT THE OBJECTIVE OF COIL ENGINEERING SHOULD BE TO REDUCE THE RESISTANCE TO HEAT TRANSFER WHILE KEEPING INCREMENTAL COSTS TO A MINIMUM.
