Summary
The author presents the main aspects of dipoles with two openings under construction for LHC. Then he analyses considerations on the technical choices as well as the results of tests on short models that led to the choice of the design of the magnets. The results of the cold tests on the short models and prototypes are reviewed, as well as plans for future tests on the next short models and prototypes. Finally, various stages in the construction of the dipoles and quadrupoles are presented.
