Summary

During the conversion of a supermarket's installations from R502 to R408A, operation with the two fluids was compared. The results are presented, including the following: in order to maintain an identical temperature in food kept in the display case, the LP pressostat must be adjusted; the temperature of the R408A vapeur is higher at the compressor outlet than that of R502. The energy efficiency of R408A is higher than that of R502 by 3 to 10%, depending on the operating periods.
