Transition mixtures as drop-in refrigerants for R502.

Les mélanges de transition comme frigorigènes de remplacement direct du R502.

Author(s) : DUMINIL M.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The author discusses transition mixtures as a drop-in substitution in R502 plants, while avoiding oil change. All these mixtures, whether binary or ternary, contain some R22. The variability of ternary mixture thermodynamic properties is analyzed at various proportions of R22, R125 and R290 (triangular graphics), and transition mixtures proposed by production chemists are introduced following a comparison of their characteristics. Densities, oil miscibility, pressure losses in evaporators, factors affecting thermal exchange, heat capacity, latent heat of vaporization and effect on materials, are examined; FX10, HP80, and HP81 diagrams are given in the annex. J.R.
