Lubricants for carbon dioxide.

Author(s) : HESSE U., SPAUSCHUS H. O.

Summary

Carbon dioxide is the leading candidate of the natural refrigerants for mobile air conditioning application, where it is to be used in transcritical vapour compression cycles. It is also being considered as refrigerant in vapour compression cycles for other applications such as cascade systems for commercial application. Some soluble lubricants have been identified as candidates for possible application with carbon dioxide. Methods to determine the carbon dioxide-lubricant behaviour and some fluid property considerations will be presented.
