IIR document

Solubility, viscosity, boundary lubrication and miscibility of CO2 and synthetic lubricants.

Summary

In the study the solubility, lubricity and miscibility of carbon dioxide with a number of synthetic lubricants was measured. The vapour pressure of the CO2/lubricant mixture provides a measurement of solubility. Liquid viscosities of the mixtures are related to lubricity. Falex testing gives an indication of tribological wear and boundary lubrication, and sealed glass tube testing is used in the determination of miscibility.
