Summary

In recent years, the sales and ownership of electric vehicles have been greatly developed. The main refrigerant for automobile air conditioning is R134a now. However, R134a will be replaced in the next years due to its high GWP. There are some pure refrigerants as potential alternatives, which have different disadvantages. The mixture refrigerants can improve the performance of the pure component, which have attracted much interests. This paper presents two new low GWP mixture refrigerants, R474A and D2V, for electric vehicle air conditioning, and the material compatibility results of them were tested. An experimental system for the material compatibility tests has been designed, which mainly includes some customized high temperature reactors made of 316L stainless steel and a heating furnace. By the material compatibility experiments on R474A, D2V, R134a and R1234yf, indexes including mass, size, hardness and tensile strength of different piece were compared. For metal pieces, the indexes did not change significantly before and after the experiment. However, rubber pieces had obvious changes. No other significant indexes difference among refrigerants, which indicates that compared with R134a and R1234yf, R474A and D2V also have good material compatibility.
