Summary
This article is the Spanish translation of an article presented at the IIR meeting in Auckland, Australia (see Bulletin of the IIR, reference 2007-0864). A mathematical model of a stratified hot water storage cylinder for use with a heat pump hot water heater was developed. The model was validated against data measured for a 137-litre hot water cylinder during trials including heat losses to the ambient air with and without water use, and the heating of water in the cylinder by a heat pump water heater. The model accurately predicted the position of the water temperatures and the thermocline in the hot water cylinder.
