Measurement and analysis of reversing valve characteristics affecting residential heat pump performance.

Summary

A new method to measure tiny refrigerant leakage flow rate inside a reversing valve is described. Heat transfer, pressure drop, and refrigerant leakage of many types of small-capacity reversing valves in real heat pump system are measured through a specially built experiment unit. By the steady distributed parameter simulation of heat pump including the reversing valve model, the performance loss in residential heat pump due to three reversing valve factors is quantified.
