MEASUREMENT OF MOISTURE LOSS IN CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE APPLE STORAGE.

Author(s) : SAINSBURY G. F.

Summary

TESTS ON THE MEASUREMENT OF WATER CONDENSED ON EVAPORATORS IN ORDER TO SET UP THE CORRELATION BETWEEN OBSERVED AND CALCULATED LOSSES. THE FORMER AMOUNT TO 30-40% OF CALCULATED LOSSES. IN ROOMS WITH A THERMOSTAT EXPANSION VALVE AND A GREAT TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AIR AND THE REFRIGERANT, LOSSES ARE HIGHER THAN IN THOSE WITH MODULATING CONTROLS AND SMALLER TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES. LOSSES ARE HIGHER FOR GOLDEN DELICIOUS THAN FOR RED DELICIOUS APPLES.
