INFLUENCE OF SOME FACTORS ON THE KEEPING QUALITY OF COOLED LEMONS.

INFLUENCE DE DIVERS FACTEURS SUR LA QUALITE DES CITRONS REFRIGERES.

Summary

FACTORS AFFECTING KEEPING QUALITY OF < PRIMOFIORI > OR < FINO > AND < VERNA > LEMONS IN NORMAL AND CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE STORAGE HAVE BEEN STUDIED. PICKING, STORAGE PERIOD (1 AND 2 MONTHS), TEMPERATURE 283 AND 286 K (10 AND 13 DEG C) RELATIVE HUMIDITY (90, 95 AND 99%) AND GASEOUS MIXTURES (12% O2 AND 1-2% CO2 AND 5% O2 AND 0% CO2 ) WERE CONSIDERED. CHEMICAL CHANGES, WEIGHT LOSS, FUNGAL ATTACKS, AND PHYSIOLOGICAL DISORDERS AND ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS DURING STORAGE AND AFTER SHELF-LIFE PERIOD WAS EVALUATED. THE BEST CONDITIONS IN STORAGE DURING 2 MONTHS ARE 286 K (13 DEG C), 99% R. H. AND 12% O2 AND 1-2% CO2. PENICILLIUM IN FUNGAL ATTACKS AND MEMBRANOSIS AND ADUSTIOSIS AS PHYSIOLOGICAL DISORDERS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT CAUSES REDUCING QUALITY.
