MEASUREMENTS AND COMPUTATIONS ON AIR MOVEMENT AND TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN A CLIMATE ROOM.

Author(s) : CHEN Q., KOOI J. van der

Summary

THE PROBLEM OF MIXED FORCED AND NATURAL CONVECTION IN A ROOM WAS STUDIED EXPERIMENTALLY AND THEORETICALLY. IN A ROOM, MEASUREMENTS WERE MADE OF AIR VELOCITY AND TEMPERATURE F TWO CASES WERE STUDIED: A ROOM COOLED BY COLD AIR AND HEATED BY SOLAR RADIATION THROUGH THE WINDOWS AND A HEATED ROOM WITH A GLASS WALL (COLD). THE RESULTS SHOWTHAT SIMULATION RESULTS AGREE WITH MEASUREMENT DATA. EVEN A COARSE GRID MESH GIVES SATISFACTORY RESULTS. IN TRANSIENT CONDITIONS, THE SIMULATED TEMPERATURE FIELD DEVELOPS MORE RAPIDLY THAN THE VELOCITY FIELD.
