Summary
THE AUTHOR PRESENTS A SYSTEM FOR FACILITATING THE LOADING OF FROZEN MEAT QUARTERS INTO LORRIES. THE INCREASING WEIGHT OF THESE QUARTERS HAS MADE THE OPERATION VERY LABORIOUS AND SOMETIMES DANGEROUS FOR HANDLERS. IT IS POSSIBLE TO INDEPENDENTLY LIFT EACH QUARTER USING HOISTING GEAR AND THEN TO TRANSPORT IT TO THE FAR END OF THE LORRY USING A CONVEYOR BELT. THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES THE EQUIPMENT WHICH ENABLES A LORRY TO BE LOADED WITH 20 T OF QUARTERS IN 2 HOURS USING JUST THREE LOADERS, TWO OF WHOM MAY BE WOMEN. THIS THEREFORE REPRESENTS AN INTERESTING SOLUTION WHEN IT IS CONSIDERED THAT CERTAIN QUARTERS WEIGH MORE THAN 120 KG.
