Summary

Comparison of different storage conditions for these 3 melon cultivars found that Honey Dew could be stored for more than 30 days at 16-22 °C, Top Score could be stored for 20 days at 10 or 6 °C (depending on degree of ripeness) and Amarello could be stored for more than 40 days at 20-22 °C. In terms of nutritive value, Top Score was superior to the other cultivars by virtue of its high vitamins content. Good quality frozen melon balls, with few vitamins lost, could be prepared from fruits, the best results being obtained by freezing with sugar syrup.
