Summary
Indirect cooling units are used in central air conditioning systems. Ice water, which is produced in surface chillers, is transported through a vertical pipeline to a mine and further on through pipelines installed in underground excavations to air coolers. The length of vertical pipelines amounts up to 1100 m. This paper presents solutions which are characterized by the separation of high pressure and low pressure circuits. Methods for reducing hydrostatic pressure in a vertical pipeline by means of high-pressure exchanger, three-chamber pipe feeder PES and Pelton turbine are presented as well.
