Summary
The cooling installation at Meikle gold mine in Nevada, USA, was successfully completed in 1995. Whilst it is not a deep mine by South African standards, it is situated in a geothermal area and has temperatures equivalent to South African mines. South African technology using ammonia was well able to meet the stringent world requirements.
