Summary

THE COOLING OF WATER IS EFFECTED BY ATMOSPHERIC COLD IN A SERIES OF INTERCONNECTED COOLING VESSELS ARRANGED OUTSIDE THE BUILDING HOUSING THE COOLER. IN OPERATION THE REFRIGERANT, WARMED UP WHEN PASSING THROUGH THE MILK COOLER, IS CONVEYED INTO THE TOP COOLING VESSEL AND FLOWS DOWNWARDS WITH COOLING INTO A LARGE TANK BELOW FROM WHICH IT IS RECIRCULATED THROUGH THE MILK COOLER AND BACK INTO THE COOLING VESSELS. CLAIMS INCLUDE A CONSIDERABLE REDUCTION OF ELECTRICITY REQUIREMENTS AND INCREASE IN THE WORKING LIFE OF THE PLANT.
