A laboratory scale controlled atmosphere storage facility for experimental research was developed to control CO2 and O2 levels in small independent units. This system can serve as a research tool for plant physiologists, where only small quantities of produce are available, to assess the storage characteristics of new varieties of fruit and vegetables.
