Summary

THE AUTHORS GIVE THE RESULTS OF INDUSTRIAL STUDIES ON A SYSTEM DURING THE MODIFIED-ATMOSPHERE STORAGE OF FRUIT ENCLOSED WITHIN A GAS-SELECTIVE POLYETHYLENE FILM COVER. THE FEATURES OF THIS NEW SYSTEM ARE THE ARRANGEMENT OF AIR DUCTS ALONG THE PERIMETER OF THE BASE OF THE COVER, AND THE INSULATION AT THE TOP OF THE FILM WITH A MATERIAL WHICH IS HEAT AND I-IH. THIS SOLUTION REDUCES THE DRAWBACKS OF PREVIOUS MODIFIED-ATMOSPHERE STORAGE METHODS (PRESENCE OF AN EXUDATION ZONE IN THE UPPER PART OF THE STACK AND OF CONDENSATION ON FRUIT). C.C.
