Summary

The article reports the design of a cold store (45,000 m3) meant for the storage and preparation of orders for ice cream and frozen products, operating as a distribution platform integrated into the logistic network of the firm. The organization of this network and the objectives of the newly constructed store (1991) near to an important ice cream production unit of the firm (in Argentan, France) are described. The design and operation of the establishment are outlined stressing particularly the decision for storage on mobile palettes and on the computer-assisted management system. J.R.
