Modeling and simulation of a superheat-controlled water-to-water heat pump.

Summary

A steady-state simulation model of a water-to-water, vapour-compression-cycle heat pump operating under superheat control is presented. The conditions in which the model was studied are described with accuracy. Model predictions were compared to experimental data. Good agreement was found for the cases studied. Results indicate that the superheat of the refrigerant leaving the evaporator and the refrigerant charge can be used as control variables to maximize system performance.
