Modelling of the amount of refrigerant and pressure drop in a rectangular copper microchannel evaporator.

Author(s) : SAMOTEEVA O., GRANRYD E., PALM B., et al.

Summary

The evaporator has been tested in a test rig simulating a small-capacity heat pump and all the modelled parameters are compared with the measured ones. The void fraction was predicted, using several available correlations. The refrigerant mass was calculated from these data and compared with the experimental results. The pressure drop was determined, using the Friedel, Pierre and Granryd adjustment of Pierre models. Conclusions are drawn regarding the models tested for determination of the void fraction and pressure drop with rectangular microchannels.
