Summary
Electronic control can save energy, give warning of breakdown and initiate emergency action. On a multi-evaporator plant, eg a supermarket, each evaporator should have its local controller connected to the electronic expansion valve, fan, defrost control, and temperature and pressure sensors. The whole can be locally programmed for day/night operation and ported for a handheld display to be tapped in for service inspection. Compressors can be controlled via temperature signals from each cooled outlet and balanced to capacity requirements. Condensers can be allowed to follow cooling agent temperature down to limits of pressure drop across expansion valves signalled by local controllers. The whole can be arranged to log and recall performance through a gateway unit serving a customer or service facility PC. D.W.H.
