Summary
The maximum storage life of GA3-treated persimmon fruits (cv Triumph) in modified atmosphere (MA) packs of 0.08 mm low-density polyethylene was 8 weeks when packed under vacuum and 20 weeks when packed under 100% nitrogen. Trees had been sprayed with 50 ppm GA3 10-14 days before harvest. The storage life could be extended to 7 months by storing GA3-treated fruit in air at -1 deg C prior to storage in MA packs under nitrogen. But MA packs after storage caused off-flavours and brown discoloration.
