Summary

MOLECULAR CRYOCRYSTALS (NITROGEN, OXYGEN, FLUORINE, CARBON MONOXIDE AND CARBON DIOXIDE, ETC) ARE AMONG THE SIMPLEST MOLECULAR SYSTEMS UNDERGOING PHASE TRANSITIONS IN SOLID STATE. INVESTIGATIONS OF THE LAST DECADE IN THE RANGE OF HIGH AND ULTRAHIGH PRESSURES, WHICH, OWING TO THE ADVENT OF THE DIAMOND ANVIL CELL METHOD, HAS MADE IT POSSIBLE TO PENETRATE INTO MBAR-PRESSURE RANGE, REVEALED STRIKING RICHNESS OF P-T PHASE DIAGRAMS OF MOLECULAR CRYOCRYSTALS. THE PAPER REVIEWS THE WHOLE BODY OF EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL RESULTS ; WHAT IS KNOWN OF PHASE DIAGRAMS, STRUCTRURES AND THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES, NATURE OF PHASE TRANSITIONS IN SOLID STATE AND MELTING CURVES IS DISCUSSED.
