Summary

In worldwide trade with food products, high quality and complete transparency are being given more and more priority. Compliance with uniform quality standards like EUREPGAP, IFS or HACCP have already led to considerable improvements. However, these developments have not included refrigerated transport as such. Even today, refrigerated containers are often transported with the refrigeration turned off, fruit is transported in open lorries and deep-frozen produce is handled in the open air, to mention just a few extreme examples.
