Summary

A preliminary exploratory survey in the field was conducted under real-life conditions in order to develop a method for detecting the possible physiological and psychophysiological effects of negative ions. The survey consisted in a comparative self-assessment questionnaire survey of staff in two separate offices, using the "double blind" method and two successive and complementary approaches. Some atmospheric measurements were also taken during the visit (air velocity and temperature: static electricity) as an extra precaution. No significant effects related to the installation and operation of air ionisers were observed in any of the subjects studied under the experimental conditions defined.
