New application of R502 substitute refrigerant into freezer-refrigerator.

Summary

In Japan, R502 is widely used. Especially when it is applied to large household refrigerators, it provides such advantages as downsizing of compressor ranges compared with R12, possibility of increased cooling speed during a rapid freezing operation and improvement of reliability with low discharge gas temperature compared with R22. A mixture of R502-R12 has been adopted to improve the solubility with lubricating oil. Attention has been given to R22 and its mixtures as substitutes for R502 and a lot of studies have been made on many substitutes; however they have some defects, as high discharge gas temperature, dissatisfactory solubility with lubrication oil, and ozone-depletion-potential not equal to zero. For these reasons the authors propose a new substitute for R502, free from the said defects and the studies on its application to the refrigeration system.
