Summary

BECAUSE OF THE INCREASE IN OIL PRICES THE HEAT PUMP SYSTEM WAS INTRODUCED IN THE KLIPFISH PRODUCTION ABOUT 1980. THIS METHOD REDUCES THE ENERGY COSTS BY 2/3. DURING THE LAST YEAR HEAT PUMP DRIER WAS TRIED OUT ALSO IN THE STOCKFISH PRODUCTION. THE DRYING TIME WAS LOWERED BY A FACTOR OF 4, AND THE PRODUCT WAS AT A HIGH QUALITY LEVEL. COMPARED TO THE HEAT PUMP DRYING OF KLIPFISH, THIS PROCESS IS MORE ENERGY CONSUMING, BUT THE ADVANTAGE OF HAVING A 100% UTILIZATION OF THE RAW MATERIAL AND A STABLE PRODUCTION OF VERY HIGH QUALITY INDEPENDENT OF THE OUTDOOR AIR, IS OF EXTREME IMPORTANCE.
