Summary

Past experience in the fields of refrigerated transport, distribution hubs and cold stores has led to better protection from noise in surrounding housing. Acoustic screens and quieter refrigerating units are solutions being adopted these days. When new housing is envisaged, it is wise to ensure that there are no cold stores close to housing areas or to place "natural" screens such as office buildings and gardens between stores and housing.
