Summary
An apparatus was designed and built for the study on pool-boiling heat transfer characteristics of liquid methane and LNG mixtures at cryogenic temperature range. With this apparatus, measurements were carried out to investigate the pool boiling behaviours of methane and its binary mixtures of methane and ethane. The measured data were validated with Nishikawa's correlation. The experimental results indicate that the pool boiling heat transfer coefficient decreases with the increase of ethane fraction.
