Summary
Air organization research is the basis for thermal environment in an air-conditioned compartment. Reasonable air organization can improve the passengers' thermal comfort. Based on the steady state incompressible Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations and k-epsilon turbulence model, the three-dimension airflow and temperature field in railway occupied passenger car are calculated numerically. The solar radiation and body heat are additional source terms of energy equation. The influence of passenger and solar radiation on airflow and temperature field is investigated based on sew supply air. The results show that existing supply air mode makes the inferior flow distribution homogeneous except for the ends. The layout of supply air grille has much effect on airflow and temperature field, one eddy exists near each sidewall. Body heat and solar radiation also have much influence on airflow and temperature field, and the air distribution in occupied passenger car differs from that in empty one. The heat flux from body heat and solar radiation produce a bigger temperature gradient in occupied passenger car. The temperature near windows is higher while lower in passageway. The numerical results of velocity and temperature field coincide properly with the experimental results.
