Summary
Using special mixtures can greatly improve the thermodynamic performance of Joule-Thomson cryocoolers. The currently used mixtures mainly include nitrogen and hydrocarbons. The characteristics of vapour-liquid and liquid-solid of the mixtures affect the performance of the Joule-Thomson cryocooler greatly. The phase diagrams of several important binary and ternary nitrogen mixtures are given.
