OSCILLATIONS OF TRYPSIN ACTIVITY HAVE BEEN OBSERVED DURING 3 DAYS, THE ENZYME BEING KEPT NEAR 263 K (-10 DEG C) IN THE PRESENCE OF MANGANESE IONS AT PH 8.4. THE PERIODS OF OSCILLATIONS VARY BETWEEN 1-2 HOURS. THIS PHENOMENON IS INTERPRETED IN TERMS OF SYNCHRONOUS TRANSITIONS AMONG SEVERAL CONFORMATIONAL STATES OF THE ENZYME CAUSED IN PART BY THE FROZEN STATE.
