Summary
Refrigerants used in the industry have a certain impact on the environment. Their use, or their banning, and their recovery in ICPEs is governed by various legislative texts. This paper describes the main refrigerants used in the food industry (thermodynamic and environmental characteristics) as well as the various criteria to be taken into account when choosing a new refrigerant. Finally, several options for reducing the impact of these refrigerants on the environment are presented (reduction of energy consumption and emissions reductions).
