Summary

These proceedings (on CD and on paper) contain 48 papers presented at the XIth European Conference, held in Milan, Italy, organized with the participation of the IIR. The papers are in English (36 papers), Italian (12 papers + 18 translations) and in French (1 paper). Topics were divided into 5 sessions: New refrigerants and perspectives: new European regulations on F-gases (developments, perspectives and forecasts on new refrigerant equipments; new synthetic and natural refrigerants, pure and mixtures: R134a, R404A, R507A, R407C, R410A, R417A, CO2, ammonia, hydrocarbons; secondary refrigerants; new fluids for new system design; fluids recovery, recycling and destruction and energy optimization, lubricants for synthetic and natural refrigerants. New components and equipment in relation to new energy issues and new refrigerants results and updates in new systems (energy issues increase in relation to the air conditioning and refrigeration plants optimization: energy saving optimization; the magnetic cooling; the solar refrigeration; new energy applied in air conditioning and refrigeration fields; secondary refrigerant plants, ammonia, CO2, absorption, hydrocarbon plants, ice slurry; new technology compressors and systems, new technology energy optimization, new components for household, commercial and industrial refrigeration plants, energy saving by calorimeter; new technologies in air conditioning, refrigeration, process and design: Legionella issue. Open discussion on energy issues, new fluids and refrigeration technician training with reference to European regulation on F-gases (detection of refrigeration leaks; energy optimization and maintenance; European situation: HFC phase out; refrigerant recovery by producers). European laws, certification and licences in refrigeration and air conditioning. New control technologies and the cold chain: cold storage and transport (insulation; applications to pharmaceutical industry: vaccines; food preservation; new equipments and controls; energy saving optimization in the cold chain; new technologies in controls: controls in the food industry and in the refrigerated transports; environmental control in food processes and safety control in the cold chain: ATP normatives).
