RECENTLY, PRESERVATIVE AGENTS, ESPECIALLY ETHYLENE REMOVING AGENTS ELIMINATING ETHYLENE AND ALDEHYDE PRODUCED FROM FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND ACCUMULATED IN THE PACKAGE, HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED. IT WOULDHOWEVER BE INCORRECT TO SUPPOSE THAT ETHYLENE REMOVING AGENTS SUPPRESS MATURING OR SENESCENCE OF ALL FRUITS AND VEGETABLES. IT SEEMS THAT ETHYLENE AND ALDEHYDE REMOVING AGENTS ARE USED SUCCESSFULLY FOR A FEW TYPES OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS OF MATURITY AND ATMOSPHERE IN THE PACKAGE.
