Performance evaluation of cyclopropane as refrigerant in domestic refrigeration.

Summary

The performance of cyclopropane (RC270) as a refrigerant in domestic refrigeration was investigated both theoretically and experimentally. In the experimental part of the study, a calorimeter was designed and constructed to test the performance of RC270, R12 and R600a with an old model compressor originally designed for R12. In the theoretical part of the study, the values of the coefficient of performance were calculated. Despite the theoretical results, it was found that cyclopropane has a better performance than R12 and R600a.
