Summary
RESULTS OF ANALYSIS OF PHYSICO-MATHEMATICAL MODELS EMPLOYING THE TECHNIQUES OF NON-EQUILIBRIUM THERMODYNAMICS AND DESCRIBING THE BEHAVIOUR OF A VOLUME OF CELLS IN HYPERTONIC SOLUTIONS OF PERMEATING AND NON-PERMEATING CRYOPROTECTANTS ARE CONSIDERED. THE EFFECT OF SUCH DAMAGING FACTORS AS DEHYDRATION AND INTRACELLULAR CRYSTALLIZATION AND THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO INJURY OBSERVED AT VARIOUS REGIMENS OF FREEZING IS DISCUSSED. THE PROCESSES OCCURRING DURING TWO-STEP FREEZING WITH TEMPERATURE HOLDING AT MODERATELY LOW TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN DESCRIBED AND SOME ADVANTAGES OF THIS FREEZING REGIME IN COMPARISON WITH FREEZING AT OPTIMAL PROGRAMME ARE POINTED OUT.
