Summary

This study analyzed the performance of CO2/HFOs mixtures applied in air source heat pump (ASHP) for domestic hot water (DHW) production. Two mixtures, R744/R1234yf and R744/R1234ze(E) were studied, and the thermodynamic model of ASHP hot water heater was established. In addition, the effect of various component compositions on system performance was analyzed, including coefficient of performance (COP), exergy efficiency (ηex), volumetric heating capacity (qv, kJ m-3), and system total exergy destruction per heating capacity unit (Ėxd,tot, kW kW-1). The results showed that the mole fraction of R744/R1234ze(E) is 0.3/0.7, the maximum COP, ηex, qv and Ėxd,tot reach 4.49, 0.44, 3059 kJ m-3 and 0.12 kW kW-1 with the mole fraction of R744/R1234ze(E)
is 0.3/0.7. The results prove that the potential of large glide temperature zeotropic mixture (CO2/HFOs) applied in the heat pump for domestic hot water production.
