Potential of dimethylether (DME) used as refrigerant.

Author(s) : LIU J., CHEN J., LU X., et al.

Summary

DME is being developed as a substitute of engine fuel for gasoline. Thanks to its good thermodynamic properties, it can be a potential refrigerant. In this paper, the thermodynamic properties, safety, toxicity, impact on environment and refrigeration cycle performance of DME is investigated in comparison with R22, R134a and R600a. An COP of about 5% less than R134a, 9% higher than R600a is observed in the test result.
