Summary
Cryopreservation was studied using controlled slow cooling. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was found to be the least toxic and most effective cryoprotectant when compared with methanol, glycerol and propan-1,2-diol. The results open up the possibility of cryopreserved fish red blood cells being used in cytotoxic assays.
