Present status of absorption heat pumps in Japan.

Author(s) : MASHIMO K.

Summary

Technological innovations in energy conservation have brought almost complete of waste heat recovery at high temperatures. However, unused waste heat at medium and low temperatures still remains. Heat pumps can recover such waste heat and get higher temperatures for hot water or steam. Typical installation examples of heat pumps are explained as operating experience. For industrial application, alcohol distillation plant and manufacturing process are good examples. For district heating, process heat from chemical plant, waste heat from incinerators and geothermal heat are used as heat sources for heat pumps.
