Summary

THE TRANSPORT CRITICAL CURRENT DENSITY OF SINGLE-PHASE 2223 POLYCRYSTALLINE SAMPLES OF NOMINAL COMPOSITION WAS MEASURED. THE SAMPLES WERE COMPACTED BY UNIAXIAL PRESSURE IN THE REGION 10-1,200 MEGAPASCALS AND THEN SINTERED. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE MAGNITUDE OF THE PRESSING PRESSURE WAS SUBSTANTIAL TO REACH A HIGH CRITICAL CURRENT DENSITY. THE BEST SAMPLES EXHIBITED CRITICAL CURRENT DENSITY (AT 77 K) AS HIGH AS 1,600 AND 250 A/CM2 AT MAGNETIC FIELDS OF 0 T AND 140 MILLIT, RESPECTIVELY.
