PRESSURE DROP IN PIPE COMPONENTS IN REFRIGERANT TWO-PHASE FLOW.

Author(s) : NORSTEBO A., BRENDENG E.

Summary

TWO TEST PLANTS HAVE BEEN USED, WITH PIPE DIAMETER 22.3 AND 82.5 MILLIMETERSRESPECTIVELY. MEASUREMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE ON GLOBE VALVES, BALL VALVES, BUTTERFLY VALVES AND BENDS, IN TWO-PHASE FLOW WITH R12 AND R717. THE TEST RESULTS HAVE BEEN COMPARED WITH COMMONLY USED CORRELATIONS. FOR HIGH PRESSURE LOSS COMPONENTS, THE MORRIS CORRELATION IS SATISFACTORY. FOR LOW LOSS COMPONENTS, AS BALL VALVES AND BENDS, A MASS VELOCITY DEPENDENCE IS FOUND, AND THE MORRIS CORRELATION SHOWS LARGER DEVIATIONS.
